UK ARTIST ENDS CAREER BECAUSE OF UFO HUNTERS

D. Hein, 49, from Glastonburn, has gone viral after creating drawings in fields commissioned by various companies. The artist used a geodesic laser scanner to accurately calculate the size and shape of the drawings and planks to flatten vegetation.

But now it has stopped working because of “crazy UFO fans”. According to the Briton, the number of alien fans increased a lot after some book came out, which said that drawings in the fields are created by aliens and are able to heal people. As the artist said, these fans bring people suffering from Parkinson’s disease and jump in there in hopes of a cure, which is basically exploitation of gullibility.

SCIENTISTS HAVE DISCOVERED A PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN CULT OF PAGANS IN MEDIEVAL EUROPE

Archaeologists have discovered a buckle depicting a snake-like creature eating a frog. This bronze artifact may belong to the symbolism of a previously unknown pagan worship. The buckle was “spotted” by a metal detector during excavations near the village of Lany, about three dozen kilometers west of Prague.

According to Jiří Maháček from Masaryk University, almost identical objects were found in the FRG, Hungary and Bohemia. Thus, scientists have encountered traces of a cult that united several Central European regions in the early Middle Ages, even before Christianity arrived there.

A TSUNAMI WAVE MAY HAVE CAUSED THE EXTINCTION OF STONE AGE PEOPLE IN BRITAIN

A tsunami wave that struck Europe over 8,000 years ago may have wiped out the Paleolithic inhabitants of northern Britain. Known as Storegga, this natural disaster coincided with a dramatic decline in the local population.

In the Middle Stone Age, the population of northern Britain was only of the order of a thousand people. Most of them presumably lived in small coastal settlements, right in the path of huge tidal waves.

Archaeological evidence shows that around 8200 years ago the number of settlements across Northwest Europe declined sharply. This was due to a prolonged drop in temperature across the continent, although some researchers have doubted that coastal communities were significantly affected by these climatic changes.

REMAINS OF A GIANT ANCIENT FORTRESS FOUND IN THE ARABIAN DESERT

Archaeologists have discovered an impressive ancient fortification in the Khaybar Oasis in the northern Arabian Desert. The structure, at least 4,000 years old, had walls that stretched for more than 14 kilometers. Between 2250 and 1950 B.C., the period to which the discovery relates, there were several oases in the area, which were inhabited by a sedentary population.
No such walls have ever been found in Khaybar before, apart from the famous Islamic fortress in the center of the vast river valley.

According to the researchers, the oasis has not attracted scientific interest for a long time because its landscape has changed dramatically over the past four millennia.

The team managed to determine the original size of the structure: length of about 14.5 km, thickness of 1.7-2.4 meters, height up to 5 meters. However, less than 50% of the original length has survived to our days.

TWO MORE MUMMIES WITH TONGUES MADE OF GOLD FOUND NEAR CAIRO

Archaeologists have found another pair of ancient Egyptian mummies with golden tongues in Oxyrinha, about 160 kilometers from Cairo. Thus, the total number of such specimens reached 16, all at the same site.

Since the early 19th century, many papyrus fragments and other artifacts have been found at Oxyrhynchus, but the most intriguing remain the tongues of gold. In Roman times, they were placed in the mouth of mummies, convinced that such a ritual would help the deceased in the other world. After all, the Egyptians considered the yellow metal “the flesh of the gods”.

RYAN REYNOLDS AND HUGH JACKMAN WILL “SAVE MARVEL” WITH “DEADPOOL 3”

The director of 2011’s X-Men: First Class and big mutant comic book fan Matthew Vaughn is confident that the action comic Deadpool 3 will “give the Marvel Cinematic Universe a shake-up.” In a recent interview while promoting his spy action film Argyle, Matthew Vaughn revealed that he had seen a few snippets of Shawn Levy’s upcoming comic book movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and came to love their duo.

“I can tell from a few snippets of the confrontation between Deadpool and Wolverine or Wolverine and Deadpool that it’s just unfathomable. The film will set the heat… they will shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe very soon, and it will bring it back to life…. I have no doubt that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will save the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

THE FINALE OF THE DUNE 2 FILM WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE BOOK

The director of the sci-fi film “Dune 2” Denis Villeneuve has warned that the ending of his film adaptation will be “more tragic” than the ending of Frank Herbert’s literary source material.

However, it is unclear whether the ending of “Dune 2” is more tragic because Denis Villeneuve himself believes it is, or whether he has substantially reworked the source material by changing the stories of the main characters. “I think the film adaptation is more tragic than the book. The way the second part ends creates a more complete balance in the development of Paul’s storyline, well, in what we could tell in the film Dune: Messiah,” the director shared, declining to elaborate on the details.

THE DIRECTOR OF “GODZILLA -1.0” COMPARED HIS FILM TO “OPPENHEIMER”

Director and screenwriter of the hit sci-fi action film “Godzilla -1.0” Takashi Yamazaki believes that his film is not a “direct response” to Christopher Nolan’s biopic “Oppenheimer”, but focuses on similar themes. In a recent interview, Takashi Yamazaki touched on discussions on the web in which viewers compared the theme of nuclear disaster and the resulting fallout raised in both films.

“I do not believe that “Godzilla -1.0” is a direct answer to “Oppenheimer” because both films touch on similar themes. So, if you haven’t appreciated both films yet, we wouldn’t advise you to watch them at the same time,” the director said in particular, admitting that due to the delayed release of “Oppenheimer” in Japan, he had to travel to Taiwan to see the historical drama.

“OPPENHEIMER” DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER NOLAN NAMED BEST TV SERIES

The director of the 13 Oscar 2024 Oscar contender “Oppenheimer” Christopher Nolan has enough time for television series, and he has even decided on his favourite – the comedy “Curse”. The British director admitted that he is in full delight with the Showtime series, co-writer of the script and the performer of one of the leading roles in which he stars in “Oppenheimer” Ben Safdie.

According to Christopher Nolan, “Damnation,” which he called “an incredible show,” is unlike any TV project he has previously seen on TV. He compared the show, starring Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder, to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and The Prisoner series, as well as the film The Singing Detective, and said that a TV project like this could only come about in this day and age – during the “anarchy of streaming”.

EUROPE’S LARGEST DOLMEN TURNED OUT TO BE THE GREATEST ENGINEERING STRUCTURE OF THE NEOLITHIC PERIOD

Archaeologists, geologists and historians from Spain have discovered that Europe’s largest dolmen, Cueva de Menga, represents one of the greatest engineering achievements of the Neolithic era. The results of the study are published in the journal Scientific Reports.

The megalithic structure Cueva de Menga, which is about 5,700 years old, is located in the vicinity of the town of Antequera in Spain. It was built on top of a hill from large stones, the largest of which weighs more than a hundred tonnes. In the new work, scientists analysed the composition of the stones to find out their origin and method of transport.
